The Layravo combines an ambient light ring in the housing with a main light in the core. During the day, you use the main lighting; in the evening, you only turn on the ring, creating a soft glow along the ceiling instead of a bright sphere above the couch.

The brushless DC motor runs noticeably quieter than an AC motor and consumes up to 70% less power.
